Last year, the entire green bean crop failed in our family garden. I don’t know what happened. They might have been in a bad spot. I may not have watered them enough. Maybe they were choked out by tall grass or weeds. The vines didn’t even start really well, either. Eventually, all of the bean plants just withered.
This year is a totally different story. We have been harvesting green beans for the last two weeks and there seems to be no end in sight. Every day, there are more beans to harvest. The photo above was from last night’s harvest. A few beans are a little large and will probably have a rougher taste. But, most were picked at the best time. I will probably have another dozen or so beans to pick tonight.
We planted in an area that doesn’t get sun all day long. The beans seem to like that much better. Also, I increased the watering. Maybe the soil is also better in the new spot. Either way, I am very happy with this green bean crop.
