In this photo for the Inlander, Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart, left, and City Council Member Breean Beggs speak before the council’s weekly legislative session this past Monday. During the meeting a vote was supposed to be held to confirm newly appointed Police Chief Craig Meidl, who was a surprise appointment by Mayor David Condon and did not apply for the position. The city council struck a last minute deal with the mayor to postpone the confirmation vote and have Meidl go through a vetting process that other candidates for the chief position went through. The process could take a couple of months. Here is a little background http://www.inlander.com/spokane/tall-order/Content?oid=2853922.
