Sam Ligon

Sam Ligon poses for a photograph under a rail bridge near W. 1st Ave. and S. Howard St. in downtown Spokane, Wash., Monday, May 16, 2016. (Young Kwak/Pacific Northwest Inlander)

I photographed author Sam Ligon for the Inlander last week. He wasn’t sure what sort of location would best reflect his personality until he settled on a downtown location in Spokane. He stated an affinity for the murals under the train bridges. So, we started there. I took a few photos of him with the murals in the background, one of which ended up publishing. We also picked a couple of nearby locations. The photo above is under the edge of a train bridge looking down the sidewalk, utilizing a lot of the light and the shadows that were present in the scene. http://www.inlander.com/spokane/the-wordfather/Content?oid=2771454
